Looking for Alaska Part 2

by John Green

Wow. My immediate reaction is that this is one of THE BEST books that I've read in a while. I'm amazed how sophisticated and funny this book can be while, at the same time, dealing with dark issues like loneliness, depression, loss and grief. The characters, setting and emotions were very well drawn. I was pulled and grew to really love them all. There were no stereotypes here. No lame caricatures of people to serve as plot devices.

I can't say enough about how clever and witty this book is. I laughed regularly but it also made me care. It moved me. At the moment I still feel too close to the book to go into further detail. This will certainly be a title I'll be reading again later on in the year. I'll write more at that time.
